We aren't getting many photos from Little Red this year. They did send us this one --- I know it was not today though, as he did not wear this outfit today.

They said this craft he made adorns the wall of their room.

During the middle of the day, I went shopping for a cake at Hy-vee. I bought one of these, we'll see in the blog tomorrow which one it was.

Don't have much to show for today.

I went to Target this morning, it is next to work. You can feel the heat and see the humidity building in the underground parking.

At dinner, we're making of list of things to do this summer. We won't hit all of them, but it is good to start with a list.

Today we go to Schaumburg for Dawn's belated birthday. We got there around 12:15 after morning church and breakfast.

Here is the customary picture in front of the trellis.

And a little bit of acting.

We had a couple of projects in the backyard.

The support under this bench was...not supporting so well, so we needed a solution.

the chunk of wood on the far right was not great support, and the other ones weren't quite right

We went to Menard's to grab some concrete blocks, on the way back, we visited Cable Court. I had never seen it.

I believe our solution for the bench is going to work.

We also got 10 red bricks to replace some of the cracked ones.

Here is the before...

Here is the after.

Then it was time for the party.

Kai and dawn were deciding who would blow out what candles

I'm most proud of the creativity of our cards.

QUACKY BIRHTDAY!

After cake and cheesecake, Kai got the first four BINGO's.

When I took this photo, everyone was picking out prizes.

We started our weekend with no power. I thought it weird when I checked my phone, and it was pulling from the cellular network, not our WiFi.

no power for Alexa, until about 9AM

Heidi had a haircut, then she came home and we did some gardening outside. I forgot to take pictures.

In the late afternoon, Nridib knocked on the door.

We started playing soccer, but Kai was no fan.

Golfing and bowling were something they both could agree on.

Then they got the idea for waterplay. It was a little cloudy, but still 80, so they went for it.

I hope there is more water play this summer. I think our grass will appreciate it next week.

I wish we would get more pictures from Little Red. It is just different teachers this year.

I have a little before and after of trimming of these salvia next to our mailbox. The neighbors planted these many years ago, but I like to maintain them. If it is going to be hot next week, I don't want to be doing gardening.

They were playing wiffle ball at Little Red - this is the picture we got, but I don't think Kai is in this photo.

When I went to pick him up around 4:45, he was playing Gravitrax. We're getting this for his birthday. He'll be excited. It was a Prime Day deal as well, so exciting for us too.

After I dropped Kai off at Little Red, and ran a few errands.

In Middleton, this used to be a boat ramp. I used to have a friend who lived near here, and he hated it because boats would come in and out of the launch area at all times of the night in Summer.

Now it has been reconfigured as a nice park with a view. I hope Tom is happy.

In Verona, we have this nice splash pad. One of Kai's favorite things to do is play with the river. You can re-direct the flow as you see fit. Last year however, someone broke all the paddles. Good news, it looks like they have been replaced. When it gets warm next week, perhaps we'll go here.

Kai likes my brown sugar cookies....before and after.

Then when I went to pick him up today, his friend Oliver grabbed me right away so they could show me the Gravitrax they built. This is a new toy at Little Red.

A rainy and sunny day for much of the day. The animals from the petting zoo did not come, but the Narnia movie is what they would watch today. Kai watched a little bit of it, but got bored. It was the book we had read earlier this year. I thought he would want to watch all of it. I know Heidi and I want to watch it, to see how closely the book matches the movie.

When I picked him up today, he was finishing his art.

He didn't want anyone to touch his artwork. I did help him spell the word correctly, since there was room for him to put the "o" in there.

Ironically, "Speak and Spell," the toy from the 80's was on sale on Prime Day. It arrived today.

We're not quite sure if Kai will like the toy or if we'll return it.

I have more words than photos today.

At Little Red, they went to the Monona Terrace. It seems like they did some type of yoga/dance exercise outside...actually, now that I Google it, this is what it was...

This is the 2nd Tuesday in a row they went to the terrace.

After this, they went to the Madison Children's Museum. It was not very busy there, so they had a lot of fun. I know they did some crafting, but I bet they were able to enjoy a lot of the museum. They were there for a lot of the day.

In the evening, he grabbed my phone and took some pictures.

The petting zoo is coming to Little Red tomorrow.

Our first real normal day of Summer. We are all at home and it is a Monday and back to the routine of taking Kai to Little Red and Heidi and I working.

I did see the Lamborghini this morning, but they have to follow the same rules as us, so I took a picture of it at the stop light.

It is nice to get daily pictures from Little Red. This is a lava lamp they made. It has fun colors inside that don't mix together.

We're trying to make sure we read for 15-minutes each day.

That's all for today.

Father's Day today.

It was going to be a dreary day, so mostly inside.

I did get to talk with my Mom and Dad this morning. I snapped this photo

They went to a picnic yesterday where everyone drove old tractors to. My Dad got to sit on the model tractor he learned to drive on. I think he said it was a 1960 model of this John Deere.

Kai was excited for this chunk of cheese curd.

After lunch, I opened up Father's Day gifts. I got a few nice shirts, a fan and a new slow cooker.

I got to thank my slow cooker one last time before throwing it out.

I made my first meal in the new one, a ziti pasta.

While that was cooking, we noticed Nridib outside, so we went to the basketball court. They like to play a game called "Minecraft," after the video game of the same name.

I also made a long shot in basketball. It took me about 50 shots to make it.

In the meantime, this is what my meal turned out like. I was also able to use some of our basil to make it extra tasty.

And lastly, here Heidi added the Channel Islands stamp and our family photo to the wall of fame. I put arrows on the photo below to show what she added.
